BUDDHA BOMB is an electric band representing Riverside, California. The band currently consists five members.... Kim (lead vocals), Colt (guitar), Cheeze (trumpet), Jason (bass), and Doug (Drums) I was recently introduced to the band just two weeks ago and had the privilege of watching them live at The Vibe this past Saturday. Doug was unable to drum after suffering a broken leg, and even with the band having a substitute drummer... Between reviewing their Myspace Page and seeing them live i instantly became a fan..... this is a band I will continue to follow and support.
Buddha Bomb is not your typical 3 or 4 piece band, lead by lead singer Kim Haslam, Buddha Bomb delivered a mesmerizing set that inspired and entertained Riverside's drinking army. I really recommend seeing them live... not only is Kim attractive... she is great to listen to and with the notes played by the minds that compliment her voice, Buddha Bomb's blend of sound had me wondering if No Doubt and sublime had children together. Their performance can really balance out a night of drinking and freedom that one might be looking for. Mingling with the band throughout the night i learned that after several years of performing together Buddha Bomb recently dropped their debut album "Break Away" .
The Vibe was vibrant and Buddha Bomb brought out a crowd of many races. Great music always catches the minds of different ears. Playing some tracks off their new album "Break Away". Their line up consisted of songs like Better Half, Comfortably and Reason. Mixing things up a little they also covered songs by Eric Clapton & OffSpring, which was nice to hear and it really let me know they can turn any song into their own. The "Break Away" album is full of tracks that instantly clog your brain.... real potent smoke !! I am sure you would enjoy the album entirely , but i wanted to recommend you take a listen to Dark Empire, Break Away and Here And Gone. At one point saturday night I thought to myself... I may one day do another Buddha Bomb article but I guarantee I will see them live again soon. If you catch them live do like me and be sure to purchase their "Dime Bags" which includes an album and a T-shirt for 10 $ if you cant catch live be sure to visit their myspace and follow the very talented underground band i now know as Buddha Bomb
